My 10 month old son has developed small red dots on his face, chest, and back...they are very small and sparse across his body...i thought it was teething but now its spread to his back and chest...baby seems fine...

If he had a fever prior to that it could be rosiola. Its not itchy it just happens right after the fever. The fever has to be high and lasts for about 2 days, the fever stops and then the spots appear. Just give him a temp, give him some benedryl [childrens kind], some tylenol, lots of liquids, and moisturizer lotion. If there was no fever, then its a heat rash. Just put him in lose fitting clothes, give him a cool bath for the next couple days, and just put sometype of mosturizer on him like aveeno.

She wasnt born with anything on her at all. and now she has this small red dot that is on her forehead. it isnt a bump or raised or anything. kinda like bloodvessle like color to it, not a rash like bump or a bite or anything. its been here for almost 2 weeks now and im really hoping its not going to turn into a mole or is a birthmark. what is this? and will it go away?

One of those dots popped up on my 8-week-old recently, and I asked his peditrician about it and she said it was just a birth mark . I'm not sure if it will go away though

My 5 month baby girl has small little red dots all over her belly and chest...they are just spotted all over...what is it? we started her on solids when she was 4 months... gave her sweet potatoe it was fine, 2 days ago started to give green sweet peas..and also giving her apple juice... what do you think? lizzie, take it easy, it's not that bad...it's not comepltely covered..it's here and there..i will call the doc.. but it;s not like i must run to emergency room...weirdo

Hi! Well, it could be a slight allergy to something new that she has eaten. You may want to keep a diary of the foods you feed her so that when/if you go to the Dr's, you will be armed with information. Also, it could be impetigo - note whether or not the rash worsens if she is exposed to warm water (in the bath) and if her cheeks are red. This is a definite sign of impetigo, which is simply a strep or staph infection, common in summer months due to the heat. For this, she will need antibiotics. Here's my guess however: she may be sensitive to the detergent you are using to wash her clothes. Try Dreft or Ivory Snow, both of which are non-allergenic. Hope she gets well soon.

Alright, so at camp i always get this rash that makes it hard to do everyday activities. i get covered in red dots on my stomach, hands, inner elbow, feet, inner knees, back, upper legs and groin. it even makes my groin get puffy. i sometimes get embarrassed when we must take off our shirts to go swimming, and getting water on it (i.e. swimming in the lake) irritates it a lot. i have gone to the nurse every year, then they say, "oh it's a heat rash, use this." and hand me this ointment. sometimes they give me baby powder to make it more comfortable, but the baby powder wears off and the ointment doesn't help. each year i become more and more skeptical of if it really is a heat rash and not something else. what is it? and how can i treat it? should i go to the doctor before i leave to camp to see if i can get help there? please help. i forgot, but i also got it when i had gone to curacao, an island off of venezuela, and that only reinforces it is a heat rash, but i still am skeptical. in response to dixie it's not that, it's the part that their treatments for the heat rash don't work, so it may not be the right treatment/rash

...why do you think a heat rash wouldn't come back from year to year??? lol... as long as the heat and sweat come back then is is possible for the heat rash to keep coming back!!! if the only remedies available do not happen to work for you then you'll just have to live with it!!!

My daughter is 3.5 weeks old and i just noticed some small red dots on her chest and stomach. it kind of looks like what my sons heat rash looked like when he was a newborn but i do not recall it being anywhere else other than his face. has anyone noticed this or know what it may be?

It could be heat rash or baby acne. My son had baby acne break out around that age and it was awful. It didn't seem to bother him any, but it was all over his head, cheeks, neck and even a little on his upper back and chest. We visited the doctor and he confirmed it was just acne and that it would work out of his system. I would visit with your doctor to be on the safe side. Chicken pox or measles can be very serious on an infant.

I have 1 y.o baby boy, for 4 days he had a high fever around 103, but today he woke up with low temperature 97.4 and all covered in small red dots all over the body. what can it be? we went to the doctor 2 days ago..he basically said just let it run its course. i am more concerned about why the red dots today.

Go to google and type in "high fever followed by rash";. You'll find all kinds of info on Roseola. You'll also find the assurance that the doctor can do nothing about it. If you're still worried, by all means take your child to the doctor so you can feel better and know for sure. I think a trip to the ER woud be a complete waste of time and money. And...don't let these comments make you think you're a bad Mom. I firmly believe "mother knows best". A lot of sicknesses can just run their course and our kids will be fine. When it really matters we (moms) seem to know and make sure our kids our taken care. Of course we end up taking them to the doctor a lot more often than that "just to be safe". Good luck.

My red eared slide is about an inch and a half, and a small piece of his shell was bit off, so i can see a little bit of flesh and a small red dot. i was told that i should take it to a vet, but i wanted to know if there's something i can do, because i don't have the time or money. :(

if he just lost a bit of shell off the rim he should be ok but u said u see flesh so it sounds like its a deeper wound , here some suggestions seperate them if u hadnt alredy :p , put a little bit of neosporin where the open wound is and dry dock it for couple hours , where ever u keep the turtle in make sure clean the water often so his wound wont get infected. but TAKE IT TO A VET cuz thats the only way to be sure that the wound is not very severe.

We just came back from a 4d/3n vacation in jenner, ca. upon arriving at the vacation rental home, we were shocked to learnt that 6 cats live in the property (without prior disclosure). after having the cleaner come and re-changed all our bedsheet out due to excess traces of cat hair and dirt (or possibly dots of ticks), we finally decide to settle in to save trouble even though some of us are allergic to cat. the next morning, we realized a very small red dot perfectly flat on my baby forehead, we tried to softly remove it but failed, so we thought it was a small scratch caused by her own fingernail. as days passes, my wife noticed that tht dot was growing a little in size, but being city boy n girl we were ignorant to suspect otherwise. it wasn't until this morning, 6 days later, that we saw legs on the enlarged blood sucking creature sitting up, immediately we removed it and become very concern of possible parasite infection. can anyone please tell us what we should do?

Get the child to a doctor IMMEDIATELY to be tested for Lyme Disease. There are many kinds of tics, but you don't want to take any chances and this is something that can affect not only her physical health but also her/his mental health in years to come. Please do not wait. It is better to be safe than sorry. There are also other things this could have been (bedbug, for example) so don't panic but do have the baby tested.

My baby has got small dots on her chest, back, arms and legs which aren't particularily red but look a little dry in places and do join together in areas and look a little redder. any ideas what they are? she isnt unwell and they dont seem to be bothering her

I would be willing to place a high wager that it is eczema. I worked for a derm for 4 years.The places you say the rash is are atypical places for eczema and the dry skin with red patches. Eczema is more common in children with allergies, so what's the pollen count or RAST in your area right now? But, the only way to know for sure what it is to take her to her ped. If it is eczema, don't use soaps with bathing.Use Aveeno oatmeal baby wash if needed, also, Baby NAturals makes a baby eczema cream, they sell both of these at Wal Mart. They both work really well.Good luck!
