I have also heard that it is maximum $10,000 without having to disclose/fill out any forms - is this per household or per person? My mom and I are traveling to South Korea this September and we have the same last name. She overheard that because we have the same last name and are one household, our limit is $10,000 total, not $10,000 for each of us. Does anyone know for certain or where I would go to research this matter further? I can`t find anything just doing an Internet search on this topic! Thanks in advance for your help!

I want to know the same thing. I was told it was $10k but find nothing on line. Something about undeclared money being confiscated by customs etc. Would love the answer as well.

No, there is no limit on how much you can carry. However, anything over $10,000 will require you to fill out a simple W22 form which is available at the airline counter, so governments can track funds and make sure that you`re not money laundering or moving drug money. It`s painless and easy to move more than $10,000 but you must by law announce your intentions.
