Just a word of warning ... after you get off the pills unless you change your eating habits permanently all the weight comes back on and thats really really bad for your body. I recommend cutting potatoes, bread, and rice from your diet first and see where that takes you. Once I got past the carb craves the pounds starting falling off and no potentially harmful pills. If you must munch, have veggies or fruit salad or a 100 calories pack or something. There are plenty of low calorie snack options out there that finding a suitable snack shouldn't be too hard if you put in a little effort. But as far as diet pills go, you don't need to open up that can of worms.

That's great that you set a goal! :D I would not cut off all the soda and junk at one time. Get rid of it slowly and slowly...Let your body adapt. Diets don't work. (Haha, I know, I sound like the Weight Watchers people). I do know that changing your unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one does. Do you have gym during school? If not, do some stuff at home. Cardio workouts are great. Things like biking, (spring is coming, so that snow should melt), running, and walking. Don't forget to stretch. :) Tell someone about your goal and post it all over. You can place sticky notes in front of your bathroom mirror, on the fridge, and on the door. I'm sure that your parents will be willing to support you with this goal. I also like to do certain crunches for about 10 minutes every day. I don't like the typical crunch, so I do things like crunchy frogs and Russian twists. Crunchy Frog: 1) Lay down with your legs bent, arms spread out. 2) Sit up half-way and lift your legs off the ground. 3) Crunch your legs towards your stomach while wrapping your spread arms around your bent legs. Russian Twist: 1) Sit up half-way with your legs bent and off the ground. 2) Hold your hands in front of your chest. 3) Move your hands to the right and left, touching the floor. This is no guarantee but just some suggestions. There are plenty more things out there that will help you. :) Have fun!

Diet pills are not the answer. Typically they have caffeine, in one form of its metabolites or another, to make you feel full. While you make think this is a miracle, it deprives your body of water, thus making it retain water, and because most people mistake thirst for hunger, they end up eating more. The other person who answered this question mentioned slim-fast shakes for breakfast and lunch and a small dinner with no snacks. I agree that meal replacement shakes are excellent, your body needs more than that to keep itself running properly. So my recommendations follow. 1. 10lbs is 4wks is the absolute maximum you should consider losing over such a short period of time. If you lose more weight, you are probably 'crashing' your system (i.e. you are not getting nearly enough calories and are losing weight because your body is eating itself). 2. I agree with the meal replacement shakes, but you need to eat more than 3 meals per day if you are looking to lose weight, but keep a firm, tone look when you are done. You should eat every three hours that you are awake. The reason for this is if you eat only 3 meals/day, you are putting your body through mini-starvation periods (ex. noon-6:30pm). This makes your body store fat more readily, to prepare for the next starvation. By eating every three hours you typically a)eat less, and b)safely lose weight. So long as you don't make every time you eat a meal, you'll do fine. 3. Exercise. This is crucial. To lose weight, you ought to do intense interval training. Longer aerobic workouts burn calories, but only for the time you are exercising. Interval workouts burn calories even after you are finished, but I won't lie, they are difficult. I recommend a combination of springs/jumps/lunges/pushups/situps. Do one of those for 20-30s, then jog for 90s and repeat. Do four sets of four different exercises I've listed above, do them 3 days a week. If you combine them with some basic weight training, you will see results in 4wks. 4. Read. Read. Read. Get your hands on some literature that will advise you on the healthiest foods to eat (I am a devout follower of The Abs Diet). Also read anything written by Alwyn Cosgrove and Mark Versteegen, these two guys know how to make people look better. 5. My list of sources has some great tricks and tips to getting and staying fit. The gist of the abs diet can be obtained from men's health. Finally, good luck in your weight-loss pursuits! P.S. Letting a friend know of your goal will really keep you motivated to hitting that goal, so get the word out!

Eat all meals regularly to keep your metabolism up. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water (this will help you loose weight , have more energy, and you'll have better skin). Exercise regularly. Try to fit in 20 minutes of exercise at least 3 times a week. This can be through phys-ed, walks, or just doing simple workouts at home (even running up and down the stairs a few times works!). Don't get too hung up on how much you loose or gain though. You may gain muscle and that's not a bad thing, since they help you burn calories faster. Don't starve yourself, because it's unhealthy and lowers your metablosim which ultimately doesn't help you to loose any weight. And don't worry about it too much, just have fun with it. Don't let a diet consume you, its okay to pig out once in a while. Hope that helps. Good luck!
