| I will admit that my home
isn't always what it should
be, meaning i may let my dishes go
for a few days, and i can't
afford to use the laundry room
located on premises (it's
almost $3.00 per load to wash and
dry), so my laundry does tend to
pile up on me until i can find a
place to do it.
as a side note, cys has been to my
home on an unrelated, unfounded
case. i apologized to the worker
for the condition of my home (i
don't keep a "show
place" i'm afraid). her
reply after a glance around my
living room/ dining area was
"oh, it's fine! it looks
lived in".
i'm literally shaking while
typing this. i'm so scared of
losing a place for me and my child
to live. i live in daily fear. at
times i have all but given up on
ever being up to the managers
standards. the one and only time i
did pass was when most of my things
were packed away into the closets,
and the bed frame i was saving for
my child's use was thrown away
(which i now have a mattress for,
but no frame). hence the
"clutter".
when i first moved in, she said i
had too much clutter, and like i
said, i packed it into closets. the
next time they came, they said my
closets had too much stuff in it.
this was last year. this year they
said "i know the closets are
used for storage", but when i
do use them as storage, i get
yelled at for having them too full.
they'll say they expect to see
toys etc on the floor from children
playing, but if they see any mess,
they scream and yell. i actually
had management "request"
for me to open my home to them. as
i was fearful of threats of
eviction i allowed them entrance.
at the time, my home was not at its
best to say the least, and i know
that. however, there was no food,
garbage, or other disgusting things
on my floor. it was coloring books,
toys, and a few plates sitting on a
table, a couple empty pop cans,
and clutter. i have never, ever had
any true infestations outside of
the usual ant's and fruit
flies during the summer. which i
take great pains to rid myself of.
as i keep a lot of fresh fruit in
my home during summer months, i
don't see this as being
completely unavoidable. especially
the occasional ants. i have never
lived in an apartment complex that
did not have some kind of ant
issue. in my previous apartment
they sprayed for them at a minimum
of once a year. continuing: after
they entered they once again
threatened me with eviction. when i
told them that i did not have to
allow them entrance, the proceeded
to yell that they would take me to
court immediately, and asked me if
"i wanted to go there".
outside, where my neighbors could
hear. they returned with the only
written notification i, personally,
have ever received or seen. they
told me it was my 3rd lease
violation, and that they're
boss told me to evict me. when i
said i had never recieved any other
written violations, they informed
me they "had the letters in
the office". how am i to
disprove that i ever saw them if
they have the paperwork? later,
she accosted my parent, told them
what was going on. we all wound up
in my living room having a
"pow-wow" of sorts. this
is when they flipped out and said
that i was a bad mother,
didn't care for my child, and
that they were going to call cys.
after the pow-wow, i have never
heard anything more about my
"eviction" that was
ordered by their superior.
following this, my parent and i
stayed and spoke. during our
private conversation, i became so
emotionally upset that i
hyperventilated. something i have
only done one other time in my
life, when i was very ill with
bronchitis.
management has made comments about
not letting children play in a
large grassy area nearby. neighbors
told me it was because management
had put in a small decorative
flower area. management later told
me it was because they feared the
children running out behind
vehicles. considering i do not
allow my child to play near or in
parking areas i find this strange.
granted, one of my neighbors seems
to be unable to keep her children
nearby, allowing her infant to
crawl around in the parking area
and her preschooler to run off by
himself. i do not feel this is
something my child or i should be
held accountable for. if the
complex playground was maintained
properly and/or improved i do not
think this would even be an issue.
i digress.
management has threatened me with
my child. they threatened to call
cys on me (and as i said before,
they were in my home within the
last 6 months for an unfounded
accusation and had no issues with
me or my home). called me a bad
mother, accused me of not caring
for my child, interfered in my
personal business, questioned my
neighbors about real and imagined
issues that were not my neighbors
business, among other things.
recently, before this last
incident, i applied to allow my
significant other to be added to my
lease. management had no issues
with this,
recently, before this last
incident, i applied to allow my
significant other to be added to my
lease. management had no issues
with this, at all. none. after the
most recent incident explained
above, they told me that once
again, their boss said no. they
also told me that my significant
other's application was
approved and accepted. i had payed
the $15.00 application fee. the
lease states i am to inform
management of any changes in
household composition. which i
have. the only way i know that a
person won't be accepted is
1.) occupancy limitations 2.)
criminal history 3.) bad credit.
none of these apply to anyone
applying in my household.
management has not re-certified me
since my income changed. i informed
them of it in may, and this is when
i started the application for my
significant other. they did not
inform me of the decision by upper
management on the state of the
application until this past week.
@walama: the cys issue was another
third party trying to cause me
problems. like i said, it was
unfounded. the cys worker was here
for a total of 10 minutes, laughed
and walked out. no joke.
in pa, if the lease states 24 hr
notice, then the only way they can
enter my apt without my consent is
due to emergencies.
also, here is a couple pics of my
apt from last year when she failed
me. not passed.. failed.

Hi....
I'm sorry about your situation..... Well heres the rental law you can have to fight back with. If he tells you that you need to move out. You have 30 days for him/her/them to give you an eviction notice. after you have an eviction notice SERVED BY LOCAL POLICE "IN HAND" they must serve the papers directly to you. you have another 60 days to actually move. I fear that this is more than just a fear of being evicted, its more to do with CYS.
Next time they threaten CYS on you. tell them to go ahead and call them, and after they have made their visit tell them you are going to sue them for definition of character and mental abuse. Be prepared to follow through with this if things go south. This is easy to get going you dont need a lawyer just file with the court house. its a civil case.
As for your children playing in areas unless its "marked" they can play wherever you allow them too. Don't be taken in by the management Flower beds have nice dirt/mulch in them. not grass. Tell them if they have flowers to mark off that area. do they have a play ground?
This seems to be a place where I would rethink signing your next lease. There probably treat every one like this. Management can NOT inspect your apt to determine the way you live. they can not just go into your apt when ever they like. Its not up to the management to tell you how to raise your children. and I believe they are old enough to understand what you say to them and mind pretty well. If management is so concerned ask them where should they play? do they have a playground?
Anyway I hope this helps. this could also get you a bad rep with the management. but I believe in fighting for what is right. they need to stop telling you they will evict you every time something bad happens. and you need to stand up to them. If they evict you for something stupid, take them to court. and talk to the manager NOT THE person at the desk in the office but the person behind the office. If that doesn't work Call their headquarters.
Remember the Squeaky wheel (YOU) gets the grease
BTW The pics looks like my house. |
