I have this raised bump that's right under my chin, kind of beneath my jawline - it's very dark, it just looks like a little bump full of blood (gross i know, sorry) i've had it for a long time now, like at least six months. the thing is, when i accidentally scratch it or pick at it thinking it's just something stuck on my chin - it'll pop and will not stop bleeding, no matter how much pressure i put on it. i end up having to put a band aid on it, which is such a pain to remove because of all those teeny tiny facial hairs on your neck/jawline. i've never had this before, and it's the only spot on my body that will do this. if i get a cut anywhere else, it'll stop bleeding like normal. does anyone know what this is? don't tell me to see a dermatologist, i'm trying to see if anyone knows before i go because the nearest dermatologist is so so far away. thanks in advance :)

that's all it is " a little bump full of blood, and the reason it bleeds the way it does is because it is on you head; your head has a large blood supply, the head alwas bleeds Very badly because of the large blood supply to it. I don't think you need to worry and it does NOT mean you have any major problems. It wouldn't hurt to go to your doc and have it looked at just so you don't have to worry about it, he also may be able to coteries it and you won't have anymore problem with it. good luck.

Ok so i have pretty dry skin. on my neck, i have these white patches of dry flaky skin that looks pretty disgusting. everyone always asks me whats wrong! and i don't even know! on my face, i also have these little bumps on my nose - they're not blackheads, whiteheads, or pimples - just tiny bumps that won't go away! both of these things have been on myself for awhile so i finally need some help. please include a product name i could use preferably under $5, or an efficient home remedy. thank you so much for those who try to help me! (i live in new york - the state, not the city!)

Have you tried vaseline on your neck? This is inexpensive and really works. As for your nose, I would open my pores every night with a hot wash cloth and then apply Noxema. After the Noxema sits on your nose for 5-10 minutes. then rinse with cold water. The cold water will close your pores and some of the Noxema will remain in your pores to work on your bumps through out the night . Do this every night for a week. I think it will work. But please do not try too many remedies at once! If you still are not satisfied, you really need to see a dermatologist.

I have had a bump on my neck for about two years know. it has stayed the same size but is sore to touch! why do i have it- and why won't it go away???

Well, a 'bump' is rather vague, it could be any number of things. Ingrown hair, skin tag, cyst.... Your best bet would be to go to a dermatologist and have it looked at and/or removed if necessary.

We brought ella at 8 weeks old, she was a fluffy pup with excellent skin. at approx 6months old, she developed bad skin rashes, lumps and bumps on her back, her tail and her back legs. sometimes these would appear as purple blisters and other times as dry, crusty spots. she would constantly chew her skin but it remained just in those areas. when taken to the vet she was prescribed 3 tablets at a time (i think they were antibiotics), we are now on our third vet and all three vets have said it’s just a common problem with westies and they have been very little help. at the end of last year, her skin has rapidly got worse and now she is covered in spots from head to toe. in january 2010 i took her back to the vet who prescribed malaseb shampoo and 30 days antibiotics. during her time on the antibiotics her skin seemed to be clearing up a little but then her skin turned black. she was having malaseb baths twice weekly for a month. at that time we had shaved all her fur off so that we could deal with her skin. as her skin was clearing, we cut down the baths to once a week. all too soon her spots, rashes, lumps and bumps came back worse than ever. i got some more malaseb from the vet but this time it seemed to make her skin condition worse. she has had skin scrape that has come back clean. the past month, her skin has been the worst ever, she has cuts on her neck that won’t heal, she has a mixture of crusty, round, dry ‘eczema like’ problems and then she has her red blisters. from the age of one year we have tried her on so many different things with no improvement. she has been on several high quality pre-biotic hyper-allegenic dog foods and as for treats she has only been given natural real dried fish or james well beloved real organic chicken. i have tried her on cod liver oil, evening primrose, sulphar tablets, megavit plus, omega 3 and on her skin i have used sudocream, aloevera 100% gel, neem oil. i have never mixed and matched all these products, i have tried them individually in 3 month slots. nothing seems to help. i now, as a last resort have put her on burns dog food. they state on the packet that it helps food intolerances, skin, liver and they claim that it is a holistic dog food. after speaking to their nutritionist on the phone i have been told to cut everything out of the diet so she is just consuming one bag of this food. ella is now, very withdrawn, in a lot of pain when being touched and is hiding and cowering away. she’s crying for no reason and obviously not very happy. i am at the stage now where i feel selfish letting her continue while she is so obviously suffering. i have spent months online trying to get a remedy for her as the vets give me a 10minute consultation at a cost of £40 and just tell me “that’s what westies are like”. ella was going to come on holiday with us in the middle of august to france, but my vet has already advised me that customs probably won’t let her back in the country, looking as she is. but then, i don’t feel that i can leave her with anybody as i would be worried how bad her condition will be when i return. any advice will be grately appreciated.

You should ask the breeder what they think first. Second, it sounds like environmental allergies, NOT food allergies. Antibiotics won't help, it's anti-inflammatories, and anti-histamines your dog needs. Ask a Vet about giving your dog Benadryl, or other over the counter antihistamine. Is it right that my son is supposed to have a doctor's appointment during his 9th month? he's all caught up on his shots and i had a schedule of when he's supposed to go to well-checkups and i think he needs to this month. but he won't need any vaccinations this month will he? my second question is how do i get rid of the tiny bumps on his neck? you can't really see them unless you look up close. i wash him thoroughly so i think it's from not washing the clothes i bought at the store before i put them on him because i was only thinking that was for newborns. anyway will they go away or should i apply something on it or just keep his neck clean and dry? thanks for answering!

I recently took my 6 month old to the DR for his check up and they said they would need to see him back at 9 months . And he wouldn't get any more shots until he's a year old. But, they would do blood work at 9 months to make sure everything is okay. I hope I helped. I would just make sure his neck is clean and keep it dry. And make sure it doesn't get to hot. Because sometimes the heat makes it worse. My son has eczema really bad. And the heat brings it out. And the dr told me to put on hydrocortizone on it. It clears it up.

Ok. well i wrote this for my creative writing class and i'm hoping someone could look it over before i hand it in. i don't want you to just tell me "oh em gee its so great," i want some nit-picking please! whoever is the most critical, gives the most advice on how i could improve it, analyzes the settings, characters, and plot will get the 10 points:) thank you. wars with no moral limitations. floods that erase whole states. bombs seen from hundreds of miles away. vicious earthquakes that kill with no mercy. battlefields stretched and stretched and stretched until they cover every neighborhood, every city, every state, every nation, every continent. death doesn’t discriminate. i’m running, running, running, but every step i put between me and an oncoming terror only brings me closer to another. i dig my fingers into peter’s hand, tightening my death grip. i’m terrified that i’ll lose him in the crowd of people that are swarming around me in every direction, bumping into me, making it impossible to run in a straight line. to add to my difficulties, the ground is shaking with malice, either from earthquakes or bombs or some horrifying combination of the two. the noise is deafening and i know it will never leave my head - sirens wailing, bombs, gunshots, buildings crashing to the ground. but worst of all are the crying children, the shrieking women, the hollers of pain. their desperate screams are scaring me and i know they will be branded on my brain as long as i survive. it will all be over soon, i think, because sooner, rather than later, i’ll be dead. no, no, no, i’ve got to at least try. i tug peter’s hand so that he turns around and looks my way. suddenly, his eyes widen, staring behind me. before i can even turn around to look, peter yells, “maya – run!” he yanks my arm forward, snaking us through the crowd. i twist my neck around to see what i’m running from. it’s a fire. this isn’t your everyday girl scouts’ campfire and i doubt it’s naturally occurring. no, this fire is so massive, so impending, so quickly moving, it has to be man-made, engineered to destroy. it’s still far off in the distance, so maybe, just maybe, we could still make it, but not at this pace. the others around us are beginning to see the fire, which brings on another wave of screaming. although it’s helping that we’re all running in the same direction - away from the fire - we’re still not going fast enough. it simply isn’t possible for this volume of people to move down this narrow a road at more than a slow jog. “peter!” i shout, pulling him back. “no, don’t stop, we have to keep moving, come on!” he yells back to me, gesturing away from the fire with his head. “we won’t make it, we’re going too slowly. let’s try and go a different way, away from all these people.” he considers this for a moment and then nods. i point to the side of the street where there’s an alleyway between two buildings. we make our way across the street, constantly whipped and shoved. we get to the alleyway to find that it’s empty, free of other people. there’s a gate at the end, but we scale it quickly. on the other side of the gat there’s a labyrinth of alleyways and paths. my heart drops because now that the fire’s blocked from our view by buildings, i don’t have a clue about which way to go. i start off in a direction somewhat similar to the way we were going before, but peter stops me. “maya, the rats,” he says, pointing at the rodents scampering across the ground. right, animal instincts. they know better where to go then we do. we follow them, running at full speed. i can’t see the fire, but i can smell its smoky fumes now. i inhale a big lungful of it which sends me into a coughing fit. i’m running hunched over, not paying attention to where i’m stepping and all of the sudden, the tip of my sneaker catches on a pothole, tripping me so i fall to the ground. the pain is stunning. it feels as if god stepped on my ankle and it’s all i can do not to cry. peter stops and looks back at me. taking in my pained expression, he asks, “can you walk?” i know i can’t. even sitting up will be agonizing. i shake my head in response. “go,” i say, motioning with my arms for him to run. for a split second, he looked conflicted, glancing from me to the retreating rats. “no,” he said, walking back to me, “i’ll stay with you.” i furrowed my eyebrows, looking at his eyes which stared right back into mine. “you’ll die,” i stated. “i know.” peter helped me into a sitting position and we leaned against the wall of a building. “i’m going to die soon anyway. you’re my best friend. if i’m the kind of guy who would leave his best friend alone to die, i don’t know who i am,” he says. i nod because i understand. we’re going to die no matter what, so we’d rather die as people we can be proud of. the smoke is terribly[cont] painful to inhale now. i’m gagging and coughing like mad. peter squeezes my shoulder although he himself is coughing up a storm. i’m feeling light-headed. i can’t help but throw up everything i’ve eaten in the past few days, which wasn’t a lot to begin with. this is it now. i think. i’m drifting out of consciousness so that i barely register it when i feel something cold and hard close around me like a giant metal claw. the claw is pulling me up, lifting me into the air. i think the fire’s much too close. i might be screaming. i may be hearing peter yelling my name. but i don’t know. i don’t know anything but the pain and that i’m going to die soon. and then i lose consciousness and i know nothing.

The intro seems like it's trying too hard to be dramatic and meaningful. I know teachers get really picky about "is," so in instances where you have an "is verbing," you should look and see if it works as just "verbs." Like could you change "people that are swarming" to "people who swarm" without changing the meaning? Oh, and I changed "that" to "who" because "that" is only used to refer to objects, not people. And the narrator claims the screams will be "branded on my brain." That's silly; they won't be on the surface of her brain, they'll be within her mind. "For a split second, he looked conflicted" Tense shift. Should be "looks." After "This is it now." the "I think." really takes power from the statement. The former is so sure, so hopeless, and the latter turns it into something more wishy-washy. I would say just cut the second sentence entirely. I read to "Looking up at the sky, I see[cont]" because that's all there is now. I don't know if you're just working on posting more or ran out of space or what, but I want to know what happened to Peter, so I can say I enjoyed reading this. Good luck!

that is really good. maybe try to decribe the background and the place that they are in more. you got a sense that they are in a city but you never described it. you only get one chance to describe a setting, and that sets the stage for the story {or at least that part of the story}. The characters seem as though they are going to fall in love or just great friends. i really want to read more. the thoughts that went through my mind were 'What is happening in this world?' What are the things that are trying to kill them?' Why is everyone running around?' I like how you started out the story by not just jumping in and explaining, lead them into the story. Great Job. I am also starting to write. im almost 15 and im starting a story right after a nuclear war. Actually its years past but all the mutation has changed things and brought all of fantasy creatures out. Good Luck with your writing and please continue with this story, its a great start! :D
