I use the Nexcare acne patch for that :) Usually I just place it on the pimple without the "head" and about the next morning, the "head" will surface. alternatively you could use a pimple treatment gel on the affected area but don`t pop it. I don't know about "bringing all the impurities to the surface". It's just a bit of pus there. But a hot wet cloth will probably work just as well, and be less messy.

Q. What can you do to get rid of pimples?
most things i have, used, know of just make the pimples ready to pop. as some people say, "bring to the surface/makes a head on it". but i want to get rid of the entire pimple without work. or atleast shrinken them. help pleaseee!

what i have discovered works for me is using burt's bees blemish stick. seriously. they are like amazing!

the first time i used it it brought all of my pimples to the surface and popped them?!?!! also, how long does it take for your face to clear up and do you use it at night as well even though it is "morning burst"?

i'm 37 and have never really had pimple problems. 5 days ago i had a little pimple that felt like of like an ingrown hair at the top of my lip. by the next day it was there and full, now 3 days later it's huge, sore and has a knot under the skin. my top lip is swollen and it hurts so bad. i've tried hot water to bring it to the surface and it did "pop" some. it's feels like a bad pimple but i don't seem to be making any progress with neosporin or cleaning. i did buy some 10% benzo and it dried it overnight but today it's back and horrible. how do i get rid of this thing on my face?

Ugh I'm so sorry to hear about this. This is practically word for word what my first cold sore was like. I was so humiliated I made my mom drive up 2 hours to my college dorm to drive me to the doctor. What you can get over the counter is abreva, and it will work to shorten the cold sore time (but, as you probably know, you can't prevent or get rid of a virus like the cold sore virus, you can only make it less hospitable so it will go away sooner). What you want is for it to dry out, as you mentioned, and scab over. The more you mess with it and irritate it, the worse it is going to get (yeah, I sound like mom, but it's true). Mostly, mine go away in less than a week, and I've learned to catch them early on with the abreva so they don't get out of control. Also, I can predict when they are coming because 1. I'm really stressed out and 2. my lip starts to tingle a little bit. Good luck P.S. Just read the post below, and have to seriously caution you about using 'disinfected' needles to pop sores or pimples on your face. I got a nasty staph infection doing this once, and will never ever ever do it again.

okay so i usually have fairly clear skin, the occassional pimple here or there .but a couple weeks ago i got this one on the bottom of my chin. it is so hard it feels like a rock is buried in skin. its so gross! i wash my face everynight i clear all my make up and only wear make up when i honestly have to. i have tried drifferen, i have tried drying it out with the different then pealing off that skin and popping it that wont work either. i know there is yucky stuff in there cause when i push the skin together i see white underneath. i want this stuff out because it obviously wont go away. will heat bring it to the surface? i also heard that vinager will bring it to the surface. please help!

It sounds as if it could be a cyst. You should see a dermatologist which will be able to treat this. You are apt to make it worse it you keep squeezing the skin.

Q. What to do with this pimple now?
i have had a pretty good size, somewhat hard, and deep pimple for almost three days now. i have been alternating between putting toothpaste and benzoyl perozide on it. today i decided that there must be something inside of it and decided to apply a warm (almost hot) compress on it for a few minutes. that seemed to soften it up and after washing my hands i gently tried to bring it to a head and pop it. as i was doing this i could feel "it" coming to the surface, but i stopped because i did not want to make it worse, swollen, or red. i have triple antibiotic ointment on it now and am just waiting for your advice! what should i do?

its like the size of a quarter. yesterday i thought it might have been a pimple that hadnt been brought to the surface. but its sooo big that im starting to think its something else, it hurts really bad. i dont even wanna try to pop it or make anything try to come out. just touching it hurts. i dont know what i should do. i have a job interview tomorrow!! =[

sounds like either a pimple..even though its big..or possibly a boil..i think that's how its spelled..... just make sure to wash your face.. maybe wear coverup for your job interview.. i don't think theyll be caring about the bump on your chin...i mean that doesn't qualify you for a job you know..don't stress.. if it doesn't go away in a week or two make an appointment to see a dermatologist

Q. Help please!?
i had a cystic pimple (the under your skin kind that you can't pop) that would not go away. i read in a magazine to heat a damp washcloth in the microwave and hold it to the pimple to bring it to the surface. i tried this, and ended up burning my skin. i have a huge red mark on my forehead. i have to go to a formal on saturday! any suggestions how to make it look less red and what concealer i should use? i've been putting aloe on it every hour. yes, i realize it shouldn't have been that hot. and i use retin-a every night but it wasn't going away.

When they say HOT they mean WARM. lol. Take some advil for the swelling. When you're ready to go tap (don't smear) concealer on top of the area to get better coverage. and quit playing with it. :)
