I'm thinking of travelling to south africa and i'm from canada. i have a currency translator so i'm just curious how much is it to stay a night in a decent hotel? and how much is it for an average/good meal? if you could give me the rand or zar translation, that'd be greatly appreciated. :d

For a decent hotel I would say about R750 - R1000-00 per night depending on where you want to go and at what time of the year you visit. For example Cape Town is very expensive over the december period. if you want good accommodation take a look at bed and breakfasts. You can get a nice one for about R450-00 per night. Breakfast you looking at about R30-00 - R60-00 at a restaurant. Depending on the type of food you like - you are looking at about R40-00 - R60-00 for say a pasta, R40-00 for a pizza, a decent steak is about R80-00 etc etc. Two of us will go out for about R500-00 to an upmarket restaurant and have a bottle of wine + 3 courses.

theres too many variables on costs. its really hard to estimate. travel costs vary, ticket prices assuming you get a ticket, may vary based on where you sit. you have to look at food, spending money, emergency, cab/bus fare. i mean its really hard to judge. if youre on a budget just watch it on tv, if your going to enjoy yourself you cant really estimate everything to the penny since they it'll become a little too planned out and you will miss out on the festivities that happen in the heat of the moment

This is a broad question and posed to those who may be going. i understand it's still over a year away, but i'm curious to get an early "guesstimate" on how much the cost would be. i'm thinking of staying only enough days to watch two or three games. i already realize the ticket prices, so i'm looking more at the hotels/food/transportation aspect. also, i'm in america.

for ticket's it would cost you like 300$ per person,just a guess.also depends on what type of hotel you stay in,food,etc.so if you stay in a 3 or a 4 star hotel...it would cost u like around 1000-1500$ or more.also depends how many nights you stay there.so if u have a budget around 3 or 4 thousand dollars u can happily stay there for 6-7 nights my guess.Well good luck!!!

If i was you, i would go to Kenya , Uganda and Tanzania if at all you are interested in safari and wildlife. These countries are neighbors and they share the boundaries. There are too many factors that can greatly effect cost of such trip. Are you planning to fly to any particular continent and than use ground transportation to get around or would you prefer to fly between the destinations on your list also (e.g. from LA to San Francisco or France to Italy, etc?) Are you traveling in season or off season most of the time? How much luggage are you carrying? Do you plan to cook for yourself or mostly relay on eating out? Are you planning to get travel insurance? (It's costly but for prolonged travel I'd highly recommend it). etc. etc. etc. Let's say you are heading for a year and will hit the destinations above. Air travel (between continents + Hawaii) can cost you easily around $10,000.00 Ground travel: you got quite a few destination to cover. Even if traveling cheaply by train, add at least $5,000.00 Daily expenses: Accommodation: average $70.00 per night (USA it'll be more like $150.00 a night in medium quality room while other places might be cheaper so let's count with average). My friend's mom is, for lack of a better word, stubborn. she met this guy online (he randomly started messaging her on facebook). his name is johnny smith (gee, how original, eh?) and he says he's an electrician. he looks like a bono wannabe in his profile picture and all of his friends on facebook are all middle-aged women the same age as my friend's mom. she's been talking to him a lot lately; so much that now it seems he's more important than her kids. my friend's mom's been acting pretty defensive whenever we'd try to approach her telling her this guy isn't real. she's trying to accuse us of ruining her love life or some shit like that. but how can you possibly "love" some random-ass guy that started messaging you online? if this guy's looking for love, then why did he randomly message my friend's mom and why are all his friends women the same age as her? and now he wants her to send him $100 to cover his hotel costs because he's in africa and his laptop crashed on him, he can't use his cell phone and his credit card screwed up on him. and he even asked if she can buy him a new laptop to keep in touch with her, but she declined. and he asked for the hotel money ($100) days and days ago. how in the hell can he stay in the hotel lobby waiting for the money to be wired to his account so he can pay for his room? why is he in africa in the first place? and if his laptop crashed, then where is he? how can he keep in touch with my friend's mom then? i don't get any of this. if she's going to send him $100, she'd probably have to send a money order or something and that would take weeks to transfer and everything. we just don't believe this guy. i don't know what i don't believe more; the fact that my friend's mom is being this stubborn and blind to not see that this guy's just trying to scam her or the fact that his backstory is complete made-up bullshit. how can we convince my friend's mom that he's only in it to scam money off her? hey i love that old lady profile idea :d i think i'll try that out haha

I want to go to africa and i want to go on a group safari. i have been looking at brochures but i want to know if there are any hidden costs- the most expensive tour looks like it only costs $5000 for a 2 month trip! it covers meals, accommodation, travel. are there are lot of things in africa, not counting souvenirs here, that i'll want to spend money on? there must be something else! please tell me where you went in africa, roughly how much money you spent (australian $ please), anything "special" you did and whether you camped or stayed in hotels. any advice or comments will help!

We definitely do not want to stay at a hotel or lodge. we are sold on the idea of having a private cabana, villa, bungalow, etc. the vaction must be all-inclusive (no drinks is ok though). we are mostly interested in small resorts with fewer than 20 guests. the resort would preferably be secluded or possibly located on a private island. trying to keep costs to $3,000 per couple for 6 or 7 nights. need to keep air fare low so since we live in the u.s. we can't do trips to africa, australia, or other areas that far away. we would definitely consider going to central america or even south america if we can find what we want. honeymoon definitely has to be tropical. i know my question is specific. just hoping someone knows of a place like this by chance that will see the question. thanks...

Well, if you would like deserted white sand beaches i would definitely recommend the Corn Islands in the Carribean coast of Nicaragua (Central America). There is big corn island, and little corn island, i however, would rather you stay in big corn island because little corn island doesn't really have places to stay, only about 500 locals live there. The reefs around both islands are beautiful and full of exotic and colorful marine life, you can also go scuba diving or snorkeling. There are NO high rise resorts on the island or even the nearest city on Mainland Nicaragua. As for safety, i'm sure you will be happy to hear that Nicaragua is actually rated as the SAFEST country in Latin America, however, it depends on the source.http://www.pronicaragua.org/index.php?option=com_content&task-=view&id=24&Itemid=97 But according to statistics it is actually the 2nd safest, after Uruguay. 3,000 is too much for a honeymoon in the Corn Islands lol. To get the the islands you have to arrive at the Sandino International Airport in the capital of Nicaragua which is Managua, from there the airline "La Costena" will cost $100 and will get you to the island in less than 1 hour.
