Does it cost extra to call an american phone from a u.s. cell in europe(germany)?

I have at&t and i am going to germany this summer. i am wondering if it costs extra when i call american phones from germany even if i am using my own american cell phone? or will it charge just like my phone is german...

Like, a couple of dollars a minute...I think it's about 1.65 or more. Your best bet on this one is to contact YOUR service provider, since they are all different, and it often matters which program you are on. It also matters what phone you have. If you don't have a multi band phone, then you won't get any service in Europe. AT ALL. They are on a different frecuency there. You may have to rent a special phone through ATT. Best bet is through your own company. Two years ago, multi-band phones were not the norm, and my provider didn't have a program (they do now) and we rented phones from Estonia to travel in Spain! Can not BEGIN to decribe what a mess that was!
