As a teenage girl, I would say 10 to 14 school appropriate shirts, 5 to 8 pairs of jeans, 2 to 3 pairs of school appropriate shorts, 2 to 3 school appropriate skirts, 2 to 3 school appropriate dresses (for dances and formal events), 3 to 5 school appropriate day wear dresses (optional, but I like dresses), plus weekend wear ( the stuff they won`t let us wear to school). It`s good to also have, 3 to 5 pairs of flip flops, at least one pair of tennis shoes, and1 to 5 pairs of fancy shoes. I`m not rich; I`m lower middle class, and this is an approximation of what I wear.

depending on what their style is they shop at expensive stores like abercombie, hollister, AE, hot topic, spencers etc. but if they go for the vontage 70s old style look than they only expect to drive a long way wasting gas for the 2 dollar shopping spree at the boston garment district

Ok there is no such thing as "average" and it is better to be your own individual rather than to be classified as average. OK nice clothes and a cell phone doesnt mean anything. Being a teenager is when you have the time of your life. Its when your parents start giving you freedom, you learn more about yourself and really about life.

Girls: how many clothes do you have? maybe some of you know of a precise number, or have an immeasurable amount of clothing....i'm just wondering what an average amount of clothes a teenager girl should have? (individual clothing peices: jeans,shorts,dresses,caridgans) i'm a 17 year old girl...really fussy with what i wear. i like unique peices, and they're hard to find, or too expensive, so i don't have much clothes!!! it's a bit depressing...how many clothes do you have?

if youre into unique pieces go to thrift stores and vintage stores, you can get great finds for a saucy price <3 i'm 19 and i have enough clothes to fill 2 closets , 1 vanity dresser and a really big bin, oh and most of the floor.

What do they do for fun and what type of fashion clothes do they wear? also, is family important to them and what is school like? i need to know all the basics about being a teen their because i am thinking of studying abroad there. all information is greatly appreciated.

It really depends on where you go and what kind of town you were thinking of living in. The teenagers here do most the same as anywhere else. As i said it depends on whther you go to nicer areas or rougher areas just like anywhere else in the world. :) It ranges from the best case scenario of a 15 year old student who works hard at school has their own little hobby like a sport and is close to their family (not that many of these from my experience). To te worser case scenario of a 15 year old teenager who shoplifts, smokes (weed), underage sex, more drugs, fights, lots of drinking alcohol etc. (lots of these people). Although as you say you might come here for education, and most of the education around england is very good, like universities (oxford, cambridge) however these are very hard to ghet in to and you need very good grades, but there are many other successful schools :) There is too many types of fashion to say but there are the stereotypical groups of youths (misfits, high street fashion popular, chav popular, designer popular, geeky popular, geeks, emo, indie, bitchy loners, loners, chav/thug, half chav, skaters, cool skaters, dubstep / D n B gurus etc. lol Seriously its just like anywhere else but with its own english twist lol ;) English teenagers are the best but probably most dramatic, but most intelegent :P Come to england :) its good, the music over here is great :) watch some english movies about teenagers theyre always right lol

I'd imagine within that age group it wouldn't be much, considering your parents would buy most of it for you. If the parents are included to pay for that age group i'd say about $200ish per year. At least that's how it was when I was a teenager. Though i'm a guy, girls usually go shopping a LOT more, so maybe $500 per year for a teenage girl.
