I have tried many times to get the answer from IRS. One told me yes if I do not own the land, but I do not trust the answer as I think she thought it a travel trailer. I cannot get an answer from IRS I have tried to get someone on phone, but get cut off before I can get live help. Help line only told me to call for my specific case. Has anyone gotten through to them? I see here two different answers. I have a feeling we do not qualify if we owned a mobile home on rented land. Seems unfair really. I am retired and it was cheaper than rent.

From what I read, you won`t qualify. If you lived under a bridge for three years you won`t qualify. Even thought like me you have never had a morage, and get pentalised at tax time for that. And I`ve never paid real estate tax cause I don`t own real estate, but yet I`m reading I don`t qualify for first time home buyer. Yet I could have had a morgage and got a divorce and qualify if my name was not on the morgage. This makes no sense to me. I don`t think the IRS even knows who qualifies.
