Alot of girls want to be "skinny now days". Right now some are starving themselfs, Cuting themselfs, and makeing themselfs throw up just becaouse they want to feel beautiful. I infact am one of the girls, well i dont starve myself, or anything above but i do wish to be as skinny as a tooth pick. ive herd ive got a grate body from boys, and wemon of adult age .. i gess us girls dont realy realize what we have. and i think the main issuer here is the people BEHINDE the magazines. reallyy... look at the models do they look like there happy, do they look like they want to eat. My awncer is yes!! Its sad. Ive gone threw depresion threw all this. it makes me wonder how other girls are feeling.. Do i sound stuipid?

I think there is probably data on people who do total fasts, but there is also data showing that if you don`t eat at all , your metabolism slows down to compensate ,so you don`t lose weight as fast as you might think. In any case, NOT a good idea.

  You can lose a lot of weight by not eating.   However, you`ll lose a lot of muscle along with the fat and you`ll slow your metabolism down greatly.     When you do start eating again you will put weight on quickly due to losing the metabolic positives of muscle and also due to your newly slowed metabolism .   This is called the "Yo Yo effect" - where restrictive diets will actually cause you to gain weight in time due to their metabolic effects.   A slight decrease in calories accompanied by an increase in exercise is a much better approach to weight loss. How fast do you lose weight if you dont eat. I am trying to figure out what is important.   I was hoping you might be able to give me some insight.

Hi guys, is there anything i can do to prevent weight loss with adderall. i've always been lean and had a fast metabolism. i still eat regular meals on the medication, but im still losing weight i cant afford to lose. surely others have had this problem. i cant eat any more than i already do, i dont have the appetite. its enough that i push myself to eat 3 regular balanced meals. what can i do to halt this weight loss? i am 6'1'' and 150.lbs i was 170 before i started a few months ago. is there some sort of diet i can try to help me gain and maintain weight?

I've been on Adderall XR since I was 14, I'm 19 now. I used to go through the same thing you do(weight loss). The only way to get around it is to force yourself to eat more. I know it sucks, and I know it's not enjoyable, but it's the only way. You CAN eat more than you already do, you just have to get some self control. Edit: There is one product I've heard of that a lot of bodybuilders use to gain weight fast. It's called Black Hole. It makes you incredibly hungry. If you feel like there is absolutely no way you can force yourself to eat more on your own, then I would give it a try.

I had to start taking adderall for my add, and i was happy with my weight loss at first (a side affect is loss of hunger). i started exercising regularly and ive been eating healthier (when i can eat), but with adderall i can only eat once a day, after it wears off at about 7:30 p.m. months of this has severely slowed down my metabolism...but i am still trying to lose weight, and since my metabolism is sooo slow now, the only way i can get that to happen is if i stop eating all together! does anyone know a way to speed up my metabolism without eating during the day? this may sound weird to some people, but until youve taken adderall you wont understand. you can not eat...its not even a passing thought in your mind that taking just one bite of anything could even be an option. what foods make metabolism faster?

i take concerta, which is similar but i force myslef to snack about 3 times a day.. i dont just snack on anything, i try to find foods that i really really like and snack on those and eat maybe half a peice of chicken for dinner and like a cookie for breakfast... eating small snacks keeps your metabolsim active and working fast

Okay im 17 yrs old 5'7'' and 140 lbs. i work at sonic drive in.i normally wake up go to school then work and usually i only eat at work which may be a salad or something light..so i usually eat about once maybe twice a day.ive tried taking suppressants like adderall,focalin,phentremine..and even illegal ones as in cocaine.and all of them kill my appetite and give me energy so i feel like im losing weight ill take which ever one i choose and i won't eat for a day or so and my stomache will be flat and i'll feel smaller.but then i just eat for no reason even though im not hungry and i'll feel like a pig and try another suppressant.i really think that if i could somehow eliminate food comletely like the annorexic girls i would lose weight and be happy but i never last long enough without giving into food so i want to find a way to lose more weight faster.but i also exercise i walk with my friend a couple of nights out the week and i do lunges, ab holds,situps,and crunches every other night and i'll wake up in the morning with a flat stomach and i'll be happy..but like i said i will end up giving into food and my stoach will stick out again..if you have any helpful tips for me whether its the "right" way or "wrong" way to lose weight i wanna hear everything and make my own choice of which idea i like i just want fast results..

Now, if I were to suggest a wrong way, I would say take up smoking or eating a tapeworm... But I would really really not recommend it. Seriously though, you are not even obese... I think you should go into counseling if you are taking cocaine because of an obsession with weight loss. Btw, where the heck did you get cocaine at age 17? you know you keep doing that, you'd end up a crack whore on the streets prostituting yourself for money right... I guess if you really are concerned, do cardio exercises. Walking does not count. Try running, swimming, or biking. Crunches and abs exercises are nice, but they are more to tone/ strengthen ab muscles then cutting fat. Not to be cliche, but not eating food is not the way to go, because eventually you will give into food, but your body will be in starvation mode, and actually absorb more nutrients/ carbs from your food to outweigh whatever weight you lost from starving yourself. For real fast results, try liposuction too.

I lost weight when i was 19 then i gained the weight back plus more, i am 21 now and over weight. i am 5'4--- 200. i am now on adderall for my adhd. i wanted to know if it will be easy for me to lose the weight again. i eat healthy, and exercise 4 times a week, and take my vitamins daily. so basically what i wanna know is : ----can i lose the weight again? You can lose the weight again. I'm not sure if you will be able to lose it all, but significant weight loss should occur. Don't think that just taking the medicine will make you lose weight though. What Adderall will do for you, is it will suppress your appetite. It will not speed up your metabolism significantly or anything like that. You will feel less desire to eat though. On Adderall, I usually just eat breakfast and don't eat all day until dinner. Adderall increases the levels of Dopamine in the brain. This will make it easier for you to focus on things other than eating. For example, if you're doing homework you should actually be able to focus on your homework rather than thinking of other things (such as eating). One of the things dopamine controls is the amount of pleasure you receive from daily things you do. So if you are like me and are the kind of person who gets bored easily and as a result, decides to go eat. This will be less of a problem because you should not get bored nearly as easily on Adderall. Even without diet and exercise, weight loss should occur. Probably not as significant amount as you want, though. If you want to gain an ideal amount of weight (like 50 lbs?) you are going to need to exercise and diet. Adderall will make the dieting part much, much easier. Exercise you probably still not want to do, but you need to do it anyway if you want to loose this weight. Make sure your doctor gradually increases the dosage of Adderall as you are on it, because your body can get used to it and you may lose the effects of it. One of the main problems about loosing weight on Adderall is the weight that you may gain back after going off of Adderall. DO NOT go off of Adderall abruptly. Let your doctor take you off it gradually by decreasing the dosage in small increaments until you are off of it. Also, many people experience depression after going off of Adderall. This is a problem that many doctors try to fix by prescribing Anti-Depressants. MOST anti-depressants have weight gain as a side effect. Not only that, but being depressed could make you eat a lot. When you are off Adderall make sure you monitor how much you are eating. If you get really depressed after Adderall and you feel that you MUST take an anti-depressant; it would probably be a good idea to ask your doctor about Wellbutrin or something similar because it does not have weight-gain as a side effect like most SSRI/SNRI anti-depressants have. Basically...Adderall will help you in losing an ideal amount of weight if you combine it with diet and excercise. Going off of it may make you gain the weight back if you go off of it improperly. Most weight loss pills are stimulants like Adderall, or appetite supressors. Going on these while on Adderall would be pretty pointless because Adderall does a better job of supressing appetite than diet pills. Alli is an exception to this because rather than supressing appetite it blocks fat. There should be no complications between Adderall and Alli. If you stay on Adderall and Alli and create a good diet and excercise plan, you should be able to reach your IDEAL weight in about a year, MAYBE less. Do not expect to lose weight fast, this is a bad expectation and weight lost fast is never weight lost forever. Can't think of anything else to tell you. I'm a 17 year-old male. i have been prescribed adderall xr since i was in 6th grade. i am now (supposed) to be a senior next year, but i got out of high school early. since i got out of high school, i have for the most part been off of adderall (stopped really taking it in about january) since i only used it for academic purposes. however since i was on it for that long and i constantly did not eat while i was on it, (not on purpose of course) whenever i came off of it, my eating habits picked up and i began eating a lot. not too much more than the average person, just a lot more than what i was used to. so now, after all of that, i gained about 20 pounds going from 135 lbs and being 5'6 to about 155 lbs and being 5'8. the weight i gained came so fast that i quickly developed pretty large stretch marks on my inner thighs, and went from thinking i was pretty damn skinny one day to looking in a mirror and feeling quite overweight. after all of this weight gain and being so insecure, i turned back to the thing that helped me stay so skinny -- adderall, since i still have a prescription to it. for the past two months probably, i have been using adderall to help try to get my weight back down. i have also become quite aware of what i'm eating and have almost completely become vegetarian with the exception of sushi and whatnot, and occasionally cold turkey slices on sandwhiches (when i do eat). as of right now, i weigh 136 pounds -- so i have basically got back down to my normal weight since i've been off adderall. i would normally be happy with this, but my problem is.. i almost cannot tell a difference between my body when it weighed 155 lbs and now, even though i have lost all of that weight and now weigh what i used to when i was very, very skinny. due to this, it's making me want to keep abusing my adderall like this until my body looks the same. i haven't eaten a single bite of food in 48 hours (and still don't feel a need for it) and i have been up for several days, with 1-3 hour naps in between. i know all of this is unhealthy for my body, but i am so image-conscious that i feel like i'm not healthy at all until i'm back to what i used to look like. so...... why does it appear that i haven't lost any weight when the scales say i've lost about 20 pounds? what's the fastest way to lose extra weight like this if i don't want to focus on muscle growth? how long can my body handle me not eating without effecting my long-term health or mental health? and once my body looks like it used to, how do i speed up my metabolism enough to where i don't need to rely on adderall at all anymore? thank you in advance for anyone who bothers responding, answering any of my questions or reading all of this. :)

So here is the scoop: (i am a female, 5'4, 18 years old) i was at my highest weight probably around the beginning of november 2008, weighing 144. i was then diagnosed with add and perscribed adderall. it helped with school and everything, but it also decreased my appetite. i started losing weight before thanksgiving break just by eating a lot more fruit and limiting the junk food and going to the gym every once in awhile. i didn't really notice a difference until christmas break. when i came back to school after christmas i weighed around 128. here is the problem: i don't eat nearly enough for as much as i work out. and no i am not anorexic or trying to lose weight by "crash dieting." i simply don't get hungry that often. i will usually eat special k in the morning, maybe an orange and banana for lunch, and then maybe a yogurt and something else along the lines of either fruit, soup, or special k (obsessed with it!!). now for the working out: i do a 60 minute spinning class on tuesdays and thursdays. one monday wednesday and friday i do an exercise bike for around 30 minutes and/ or 17 minutes on the eliptical (intervals of 1:30 min w/ resistance: 4, followed by :30 second w/ resis: 8). also whenever i can fit it in (usually abour 3-4 times a week) i do generally anywhere from 20-30 minutes of yoga (focuses 10 minutes on each of the following: strength/toning, core strengthening, balance and flexibility). i also do random arm workouts, usually with 5 lb dumbells. i just kind of do 3 reps of 10 of random arm exercises for about 15 minutes once or twice/ week. and last but not least i do 120 reps of abdominal exercise ( 3 sets of 10 reps of: leg raises, crunches, and side crunches) i know that i am not eating enough to keep up with my working out, or my life period. but i get full so fast now a days and i don't know what to do to force myself to eat. i'm on the go a lot with college and i need some advice. is there something i can take to make sure i am getting enough nutrients and calories? is that what that ensure drink is for? i don't want some sort of meal replacement or protein that will make me bulk up like a boy or just make me fat. i would like to tone up, besides the food problem, does my workout sound effective? i would like to use the treadmill some too but i am not a good runner. i have tried diet pills in the past, they are a bunch of bs. but i'm not worried so much on the losing weight aspect right now. i just want to make sure i am getting what i need in order to keep up with my activity level.

Adderall is probably the source of that weight loss and eating problem. It's basically speed, which has effects like that. Look into Provigil. It's not technically for people with ADD, but it has similar and better positive side effects without any negative side effects. On the diet, you definately need to eat more. Boost/ensure/slim fast shakes + a meal can help. You will not get bulky or fat, especially since you're already intaking a dangerously low amount of calories (look up the "female athlete triad"). You need to make yourself accountable for your food. An easy way to do this is with a calorie sheet. Just write down everything you eat and drink all day that has any sort of calorie amount to it and make sure it adds up to enough. Timing out when you need to eat will also help you to get enough. You will not get bulky, as that comes from heavy weight training and testosterone, and you won't get fat because you'll be taking in about as much as you're burning off. On the exercise, your cardio stuff sounds good, but keep in mind that ellipticals and treadmills simply don't compare to real running. Yoga is good. Your current weight training, however, is basically a waste of time without a good rep range. If you're hitting that ten reps every time, then it's not getting you anywhere. 3-5 sets is pretty much always the recommendation, but change that rep range to 12-15 or 15-20. You should be hitting failure somewhere in there. If you're catching the highest number on more than the first set, then you need to up the weight/intensity. Methods of doing this for ab stuff usually include working out on a decline bench or stability ball.

I have lost 17 lbs in only 15 days taking my adderall. for me this isn't a bad thing because i'm about 30 lbs overweight. but i am concerned with that amount so fast. i am only 21, but is this normal? i take 20 mg in the morning and 20 in the evening. is it okay to be losing this much at once? i don't mind at all, but what can i do to try to eat during the day?

I go off my Adderall in the summers and start taking it regularly again once school starts. I typically gain 15 lbs or so off it and then lose it the first couple of weeks I'm Adderalling again. After the few weeks or so, my weight usually stabilizes, so I wouldn't worry about it unless your weight loss continues past 20 lbs. As for the eating, you kind of just need to force yourself to do it. Try to remember to eat (haha sometimes I realize it is like 11pm and I forgot to eat all day) and eat a lot of small meals throughout the day. I also tend to eat a lot more late at night once the Adderall wears off . Hopefully your body will get used to it and you'll slowly stop losing weight, but if not, talk to your doctor. I have lost 15 pounds in the past month just by drinking nothing but water. sometimes i drink low sodium v8 juice like a couple times a week. i have totally quit eating fast food. the only time i ever eat bread is about 3 times a week when i go to subway and get a 6 inch turkey sub on weat bread with no cheese and the only sauce is spicy mustard. other than that, i just eat like 2 meals per day which consist of either fish thats not fried or skinless chicken thats not fried and shrimp, frozen vegatables, and some fruit but i try to stay away from that because of the sugar. i have also been taking adderall xr 20 mg just 1 per day for the past 10 days. i go for walks a lot at the mall and everyday i do stretches and several crunches. if i keep this up then how much weight is the most i will lose within another 30 days?

Hi.. i'll start off by saying that i find myself heading down a dangerous path of self-destruction, not to mention self-starvation, lol. i am looking to change this before it gets out of hand, though. however, i'd appreciate it if those of you who honestly do not know what you're talking about, would kindly find another question to blindly answer. alright, now i'll be going into a lot of detail, so that you can follow along as well as possible - it is important that i know this. okay, so i've been taking adderall on a regular basis for the past month... it wasn't long, though, before i was abusing my dose. i would skip a few days, just so that i could pop 2.. which evolved into 3.. and that eventually evolved into ingesting 4 pills in one sitting, each being 30 mg's. either way, the point is that i would have no desire to eat while under the influence of adderall, and so i obviously didn't. after time, i began to lose weight, and i even started to create a pattern of eating just once a day. however, this is all very recent - within the past week or so - and i'm pretty certain that i'll have no problems with maintaining a normal diet, if worse comes to worse. here's the thing, though... i ended up losing about 90% of what you'd call a "double chin" - all within the same week. i weighed about 160 pounds before the weight loss, at a rather small 5'4 - male. now, i've been brought down to a little over 150 pounds, although i'm not sure of my exact weight and i'm sure it's equal to or less than 155 pounds. either way, i know that this is not healthy, but i love the dramatic results it's been giving me. the funny thing is, i didn't start abusing the adderall to lose weight - this developing illness came along with my recreational use, and i'm not sure if i like it a little too much. i'll get to the point now, though.. what i plan to start doing, is refrain from taking adderall altogether, and force myself to sleep at night, so that my body has plenty of time to recuperate. this way, i can wake up and have a hearty breakfast with a glass of milk or two, just to jump-start my metabolism and get it running nice and fast. however, for the rest of the day, my meals will only consist of water, milk, apples, carrots, grapes, etc. basically, all i want to know is whether or not i can refrain from getting sick by sticking to this routine... of course, plenty of working out and staying away from the fast foods and soda/other sugary products will be involved to ensure that added element of healthy living. please do not sugar coat your answer for me, just inform me. i'm not going to take your answer into any consideration, should it entail anything having to do with you lecturing me about how i should be eating three meals a day and whatnot. i am very aware of the fact that your body enters starvation mode in an attempt to keep you from crossing over to a more fatal condition, and i suppose that what i really would like to know is whether or not this new routine that i've mentioned above will prevent that from happening, while still being able to tone up and keep the body fat away. in other words, if i eat when i wake up, have a glass of milk or two, and feed off of fresh fruits and vegetables / water and milk for the rest of the day, will i put that weight back on when i eat more than just that one meal a day, after i'm right where i need to be (as far as my physical appearance) ??

I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes. Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight. First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising... This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart. However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace .com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full.
